The Challenge: Transforming Historic Attic Space

The client sought to transform an unused, raw attic space above their garage in a unique, historic Geneva, IL home into a dedicated, high-end workout environment.

The challenge was multifaceted: introducing full climate control and proper insulation into a non-habitable area, creating an enclosed staircase for safe access, and integrating specialized luxury finishes, such as custom ceiling treatments, to maintain a high-end aesthetic.

The Solution: Comprehensive Finishing and Specialized Carpentry

Talon Construction executed a ground-up interior finishing project to create this functional luxury space:

  • Structural and Systems Integration: The project began with detailed framing to properly enclose the stair access. Full insulation, electrical, plumbing (for the cabinetry area), HVAC, and drywall work were completed, successfully converting the garage attic into a comfortable, year-round living area.

  • Custom Finishes: The project focused on high-quality visual and functional elements, including the installation of custom beams to define the space and provide a unique look, along with a new railing system.

  • Luxury Amenities: The room was finished with a cabinetry area that includes a cooler, premium luxury carpeting and flooring, and complete trim and painting, resulting in a one-of-a-kind workout room that respects the home's unique character.

This specialized renovation provided the client with a permanent, high-value addition to their home's utility and leisure spaces.
